Three Softball Players Earn All-Conference Recognition

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – On Tuesday morning, the Ohio Athletic Conference announced the 2025 All-Conference selections for softball where three Capital University players were recognized. For the Comets, juniors Kyleigh Kirby, Autumn Bridges and Megan Mlinaric were all selected by the league's coaches.

Kirby was named an All-OAC First Team selection for the second consecutive season. The honor is also the third of her career as she was an Honorable Mention pick as a freshman. Both Bridges and Mlinaric were recognized as Honorable Mention selections for the second year in a row and second times in their careers. This is the third consecutive season in which Capital softball has had three All-OAC selections. Kirby's back-to-back First Team recognition makes her the first two-time First Team All-OAC honoree for Capital softball since Devan Boggs was a three-time recipient from 2011-2013.

In 2025, Kirby put forth a season to remember offensively, ending the year with a .504 batting average, .809 slugging percentage, and a .537 on-base percentage. In total, she recorded 58 hits, 13 doubles, two triples, six home runs and 17 RBIs on 115 at-bats. Additionally, she stole 11 bases and scored 36 runs. Against conference opposition specifically, Kirby hit .542 with 32 hits, two doubles, two triples, six homers and 14 RBIs. Her .504 season batting average marked just the fourth time in program history a player finished a single-season above .500 and the first since 2000.

Bridges also put forth another strong season for the Comets as she recorded a .373 season batting average thanks to 38 hits, three doubles, one triple, eight RBIs and nine walks. She also stole nine bases and scored 24 runs. Against conference opposition, Bridges had a .404 batting average on 19 hits and five RBIs.

Mlinaric finished the season with a 6-1 pitching record and one save in 14 appearances, despite ending the season prematurely due to injury. In total, she pitched 54.1 innings and conceded an opposing batting average of .255, an ERA of 3.48 and had 53 strikeouts. Within the OAC, Mlinaric was 3-0 in four appearances with 21.1 innings pitched and 18 strikeouts. Offensively, Mlinaric added 13 hits and six RBIs on 26 at-bats.
