Softball Falls to No. 21 Baldwin Wallace

BEREA, Ohio – The Capital University softball team traveled to OAC leaders and No. 21 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University on Saturday where they fell 7-2 and 13-0 in the two games.

With the results, Capital is now 13-21 overall and 6-10 in the OAC, while BW is 29-2 overall and 15-1 in the conference.

GAME ONE
The Comets got in front of game one in the top of the first inning, thanks to a lead off solo home run by Kyleigh Kirby. The round-tripper was Kirby's sixth of the season and 18th of her career.

In the bottom of the third, BW leveled the score at 1-1, but Capital would go back in front 2-1 in the top of the fourth. This time, the run was scored as Reagan Irons hit an RBI single that scored Emma Sweetman

From there, the Yellow Jackets would tie the game in the bottom of the fourth, then go in front in the fifth to eventually lead 7-2. That lead would prove to be the final score of game one.

The Comets recorded six hits in the game, led by two from Kirby. Autumn Bridges, Irons, Sweetman, and McKenzie Kennedy all had one hit.

Alyssa Miller was the starting pitcher lasting 4.1 innings where she allowed six hits, four runs and struckout two. Addi Parker pitched 1.2 innings of relief, ending with two strikeouts as well.

GAME TWO
The Comets were held in check for much of game two, but managed to record three hits. Those hits came off the bats of Kyleigh Kirby, Emma Sweetman and Shelby Allen. Capital also drew three walks – one each from Michelle Brumfield, McKenzie Kennedy, and Isabel Sayre

Alyssa Miller was the starting pitcher again, throwing 1.1 innings, finishing with four hits, four runs and a strikeout credited to her. Addi Parker threw 2.2 innings of relief and was charged with nine hits, eight runs (seven earned) and a strikeout.
