COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University men's and women's soccer teams saw additional 2024 postseason awards roll in on Wednesday morning as both teams had two student-athletes recognized by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association as All-Ohio honorees.
For the men,
Jacob Deever was named Second Team All-Ohio and First Team All-Ohio Academic, while
Brennan Hesse was selected Second Team Academic All-Ohio.
On the women's side,
Abby English was named All-Ohio First Team and
Liv Alford was selected as All-Ohio Third Team.
In 2024, Deever was selected as First Team All-OAC, finishing the year with eight goals and three assists for 19 points. He was also selected as All-Region by the United Soccer Coaches organization.
Hesse was selected to the All-OAC Third Team after posting one goal and four assists as a defensive player. His only goal of the season proved to be the game-winner in a 2-1 win over Wilmington.
For the women, English was named All-OAC First Team and led the Comet defense to five shutouts in 2024. She played all but 12 minutes of her 17 appearances on the season.
In goal, Alford was named All-OAC Second Team after posting 81 saves along with a 1.20 goals against average and a .794 save percentage. She made 18 starts on the year.
In 2024, both the men's and women's soccer teams played tough competition, ending the year with identical 7-9-4 records.
