COLUMBUS, Ohio – On Tuesday morning, D3hoops.com announced their second Team of the Week of the 2025-26 season and included on the team for the second time this year was Capital University women's basketball senior Samaree Perkins. 

The honor is Perkins's fifth career D3hoops.com Team of the Week selection, setting a new program record for most selections, passing Kendra Meyer's prior record of four honors from 1999-2001. 

Perkins' award comes after Capital won both games this past week as the Comets defeated Case Western Reserve 59-54 on Wednesday before successfully completing a comeback 68-66 win over Bethany on Saturday. 

In the midweek game, Perkins scored 23 points to go with 19 rebounds and a block. On the weekend, Perkins led all players with 28 points and 15 rebounds while also adding two steals, an assist and one block. Perkins also punctuated the win for Capital knocking down a pair of free throws with 0.1 seconds left on the clock to give the Comets the 68-66 win. 

Additionally, in the game against Bethany, Perkins recorded her 800th career rebound, making her just the fourth player in program history to cross the threshold. She joins Sandy Buddelmeyer (1,365), Kendra Meyer (1,007) and Shelly Blackburn (811) in this elite company. Perkins now sits at 802 career rebounds. 

Capital will continue their season with another home game tonight as they host Wooster for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
