COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University bowling teams both achieved new heights at the Ohio Bowling Conference's second competition of the season today. The varsity men placed in 6th of 20 teams – their highest finish at an OBC event in program history. The varsity women placed 7th of 14 teams narrowly missing out on their prior best finish of fifth achieved a month ago.
On the men's side, the Comets also highlighted the day with a new program record for highest single baker game, bowling a score of 279.
As a team, the varsity men combined for a score of 5,344 on the day. The JV men tallied up a score of 4,685 to place ninth in their division. The varsity women scored a total of 4,463 on the day. The JV women tallied a score of 3,958, placing third in their division.
MEN
Jacob Snyder was the top finisher for Capital, totaling a score of 607 on the day. He placed 26th.
Zac Abbott was next for the Comets with a score of 600, placing him 30th overall.
Jonathan Waggoner finished up 45th for Cap with a score of 573.
Baylee Becker was next for the Comets with a score of 551 to place 51st.
Robert Stegman finished 82nd with a score of 393, while
Caleb Kornosky rounded it out with a score of 207 and 106th place finish.
Christopher Vance was the leader of the JV squad today, placing 14th with a score of 602.
Evan Freudemann was close behind with a score of 585 to place 18th.
WOMEN
Kaitlyn Sturgell was the leader for the Comet women, placing 14th with a score of 542.
Olivia Hicks was next for Cap, placing 25th after bowling a total score of 526.
Jolene Powers finished up 31st overall after scoring 506.
Samantha Jay bowled a score of 383 to place 56th.
Sadie Bassitt bowled a 277 in her games, while
Alyssa Gehring tossed a game of 126.
Sarah Cordes was the Comet leader for the JV squad, placing 13th with a score of 487.
UP NEXT
Capital will now pause for about a month from competition before the squad heads out to Las Vegas, Nevada on December 17th and 19th to take part in two competitions. There, Capital will bowl in the Glenn Carlson Invitational and then the Collegiate Shootout.
