COLUMBUS, Ohio – Last week, Capital University freshman
Baden Forup was named the D3hoops.com Region VII Co-Rookie of the Year after an outstanding debut season in 2023-24.
In the history of Capital Basketball and the history of the regional awards by D3hoops.com, Forup is the first from Capital to earn the Rookie of the Year distinction and is just the 10th regional award winner from the media outlet.
In 2023-24, Forup was named All-OAC Second Team and was also the conference's Freshman of the Year after a breakout season that saw him lead the team in multiple categories. At season's end, Forup finished with 14.7 points per game, 6.8 rebounds per contest, 17 assists, 11 steals and 23 blocks. His 61.4% field goal percentage also finished the year as a top-20 mark in the nation.
Forup's conference freshman of the year nod was the second time a Capital player earned that award in program history as
Carter Combs won the award in 2021.
