WESTERVILLE, Ohio – On Thursday morning, the Ohio Athletic Conference announced the 2024 edition of their All-Conference teams for men's soccer. Featured on the three teams were four Capital University players.
Jacob Deever highlighted the group as a First Team honoree, followed by
Jackson Terry on the Second Team and
Noah Thomas and
Brennan Hesse on the Third Team. The four selections mark the second consecutive season in which the Comets have landed at least four players on the men's soccer All-Conference teams.
The group helped Capital to a 7-9-4 overall record and a 5-3-1 mark in conference play. Capital even advanced to the OAC Semifinals this season after defeating John Carroll 1-0 on the road in the OAC Quarterfinals.
Deever is a multi-time All-OAC recipient, having now been featured on the All-Conference list each of his three years at Capital. As a freshman, he was selected as the Co-Freshman of the Year and then followed that up with a Second Team honor as a sophomore. In 2024, Deever led the Comets in goals and points, finishing with eight goals, three assists and 19 points. All eight of his goals came against OAC competition this year, including three two-goal games vs. Marietta, Muskingum, and Mount Union.
Terry made a statement in his first season as a sophomore transfer with the Comets, earning his first career postseason accolade. As a defender, Terry finished the season starting all 20 games for Capital and scoring two goals and dishing out two assists – all of which came in OAC play.
Thomas came on strong midway through his first collegiate season, starting nine games for Capital in goal, including eight OAC games. On the season, Thomas finished with a team-best 46 saves, a goals-against-average of 0.74 and an 86.8% save percentage. He also earned back-to-back OAC Defensive Player of the Week awards during the season.
Hesse earned his second consecutive Third Team All-Conference award after a strong senior season in the Purple and white. On the year, he scored one goal and dished out four assists. Again, all of his offensive output this season came in OAC play, highlighted by his game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Wilmington.
