ZOAR VILLAGE, Ohio – The Capital University men's golf team put together a strong start to the year by placing third overall out of 12 teams at the Gatorade Collegiate Invite, hosted by the College of Wooster at Zoar Village Golf Course.
The team, composed of
Ben Satterthwaite,
Jack Curtis,
Adam Murphy,
Cam Donahue and
Adam Czerniakowski, scored a two-round score of 587 – the third lowest 36-hole team score in program history. The first round, Capital scored 289 – the third lowest 18-hole score in team history. Capital then finished round two with a score of 298.
Ben Satterthwaite led the way for Cap, finishing T-4th with a two-round score of 144 (70-74).
Adam Murphy was the next finisher for Capital, placing T-7th overall with a two-day total of 146 (74-72).
Jack Curtis finished just one stroke back of Murphy with a score of 147 (71-76). He placed tied for 9th overall.
Adam Czerniakowski shot rounds of 74 and 76 to total 150 for the weekend, placing T-20th.
Cam Donahue rounded out the scores with a combined total of 152 (74-78). He finished T-25th on the leaderboard.
In the team standings, Wooster won the event with a score of 586 – edging the tiebreak with John Carroll who also scored 586. Ryan Green of Baldwin Wallace was the individual medalist, shooting 143 over the two rounds beating out two others in a playoff.
Capital will hit the links for a second time this fall on Sunday, September 10th when they play in the Baldwin Wallace Invitational.
