TIFFIN, Ohio – The Capital University track and field program sent their team to the Tiffin Track Carnival this weekend, with many good showings. The meet was hosted by Heidelberg University and featured many OAC competitors as well.
Below is a summary of the performances…
MEN
3,000m Steeplechase:
Donovan Slattery raced to second place in a time of 9:55.58.
10,000m Run:
Zach Glotzbecker took to the track for the longest event of the day, running the 10K in 34:59.18. The time is good enough to place him ninth all-time in the event at Capital.
Shot Put:
Marvin Jean-Denis threw his way to 12th place with a heave of 14.50 meters. He was joined by
Waylon Yeager who tossed 11.34 meters.
Discus: Jon Kirk threw 38.27 meters in the discus throw.
Toren Smith marked 33.36 meters while
Marvin Jean-Denis' best throw was 32.71 meters.
Waylon Yeager rounded it out with a throw of 31.10 meters.
Javelin:
Jason McColl threw a distance of 42.04 meters.
4x100m Relay: The quartet of
Ishmael Young,
Daniel Hiser,
Dom Glenn and
Daniel McCormack placed third with a time of 42.97 seconds.
110m Hurdles:
Kelly Wilson II placed third in a time of 15.68 seconds.
100m Dash:
Ishmael Young led a group of Comets, placing 11th in 11.24 seconds. He was followed by
Daniel Hiser (11.31s),
Dom Glenn (11.41s),
Ben Char (11.66s),
Dylan Dowell (11.67s),
Xavier Jennings (11.70s),
Daniel McCormack (11.97s),
Aiden Edwards (12.14s),
Wesley Triplett (12.17s),

Jeremiah Smith (12.42s) and
Brandon Rex (12.63s).
1500m Run:
Donovan Slattery placed third overall with a time of 4:09.99. He was followed by
Nick Stuck who crossed the line in 4:35.86.
Pole Vault:
Zion Park clearned 4.40 meters while
Wesley Triplett cleared 4.25 meters.
Long Jump:
Dylan Dowell placed third with a leap of 6.54 meters.
Aiden Edwards was 10th in 5.65 meters.
Decathlon:
Andy Fullmer competed in the decathlon at Indiana State on Thursday and Friday, placing eighth overall in a loaded field of several Division I competitors. He finished with a total score of 5,858 points which is a new PR, but keeps him fourth all-time in the event. Below are Fullmer's times and scores.
- 100m Dash: 11.79 seconds
- Long Jump: 6.21 meters
- Shot Put: 9.41 meters
- High Jump: 1.85 meters
- 400m Dash: 56.17 seconds
- 110m Hurdles: 16.86 seconds
- Discus: 31.77 meters
- Pole Vault: 3.90 meters
- Javelin: 49.56 meters
- 1500m Run: 5:01.78
WOMEN
3,000m Steeplechase:
Elizabeth Mak raced her first ever steeplechase and clocked in a time of 12:46.63 which places her sixth all-time in the event at Capital.
Shot Put:
Alexa Poling placed 14th in the shot, throwing a best mark of 11.30 meters.
Grace Heckenlively was 20th in 10.96 meters.
Lily Purdon (10.60 meters) and Deivon Mccullough (11.40 meters) were right there as well.
Discus:
Grace Heckenlively threw 33.05 meters and was followed by
Lily Purdon (30.73m), Deivon McCullough (29.36m) and
Alexa Poling (28.33m).
Hammer Throw:
Alexa Poling tossed into seventh place with a mark of 47.24 meters which was a new PR and sits just a little over a quarter of meter from the school record of 47.59 meters set by Kassie Lee in 2019.
Lily Purdon placed 29th with a throw of 36.85 meters.
Javelin:
Lily Purdon threw 27.85 meters to place ninth.
4x100m Relay:
Hanna Bauer,
Maria Da Cunha,
Erniesha Guerrier, and
Cece Samuels placed fifth in 51.50 seconds.
100m Hurdles:
Maria Da Cunha finished sixth in 17.0 seconds.
100m Dash:
Cece Samuels sprinted to fifth overall with a time of 12.83 seconds. They were followed by
Hanna Bauer (13.56s),
Claire Larger (13.67s),
Olivia Humes (13.77s) and
Erniesha Guerrier (14.03s).
1500m Run:
Alexa Daley placed fifth in a time of 5:14.81.
High Jump:
Kennedi Hendricks cleared the bar at 1.55 meters which moves her into a tie for sixth all-time in the event at Capital. She is level with Jessie Plaster who also cleared 1.55 meters in 2012.
Pole Vault:
Bella McCarty cleared 2.69 meters.
Long Jump:
Claire Larger lept 4.63 meters, while
Olivia Humes jumped 4.36 meters.
UP NEXT
Capital will face a couple of competitions next weekend as those with qualifying times and marks will head to Ohio State's Jesse Owens Classic both Friday and Saturday, while the rest of the team will compete at the Otterbein Twilight meet on Friday, April 21st.
