Track and Field Competed at High Point Amongst Loaded Field of Competition

HIGH POINT, N.C. – As one of the very few Division III schools at the meet, the Capital University track and field team ventured to High Point University this weekend to take on the Vertklasse Meeting – a high-powered Division I meet with the likes of several power-five DI schools in attendance.

Among the schools in attendance competing in the event were Liberty, VCU, Duke, VMI, Elon, High Point, Davidson, Virginia Tech, and Tennessee among others. As if the competition wasn't enough for the Comets, the meet was streamed on ESPN+ and Hulu for the greater masses to see them in action.

Despite the daunting task ahead, the Comet track and field team didn't waver and still put forth several high-quality performances, including six program top-10 times and marks.

Below is a summary of the performances.

MEN
800m Run: Nick Stuck led a pair of Comets in the two lap race, running a time of 2:09.30, while Zach Glotzbecker was just behind, finishing in 2:11.33.

100m Dash: Ishmael Young placed 35th overall in a time of 11.17 seconds and Daniel Hiser finished 39th in 11.24 seconds.

400m Dash: Daniel McCormack raced to a 25th place finish, running a time of 51.897 seconds.

110m Hurdles: Kelly Wilson II finished 10th, running a time of 15.369 seconds, while Andy Fullmer clocked in a time of 17.23 seconds. For Wilson, the time marked a match of his 10th all-time time set last week at Emory.

200m Dash: Young and Hiser finished nearly back-to-back as Young placed 30th in a time of 22.71 seconds and Hiser placed 32nd in 22.76 seconds.

400m Hurdles: Kaden Lowe finished 14th in 59.58 seconds.

4x100m Relay: The foursome of Dom Glenn, Daniel McCormack, Ishmael Young and Daniel Hiser finished 11th in 42.45 seconds. The time puts this grouping in a four-way tie for the eighth fastest 4x1 relay in program history.

1500m Run: Zach Glotzbecker clocked in a time of 4:20.85.

5000m Run: Donovan Slattery raced his way to a time of 15:45.48. The time was good to help Slattery crack the top-10 program list as he surpassed Derek Knabe's 2017 time of 15:49.65 for 10th.

Javelin: Andy Fullmer threw a distance of 49.41 meters on his opening throw, good to place him 13th. Jason McColl finished 26th with a PR of 42.81 meters. McColl's toss is also good to move him from 10th all-time in the event up to ninth surpassing former teammate Hayden Shaffer.

Pole Vault: Zion Park cleared the bar at a height of 4.42 meters to place him seventh in the event.

Long Jump: The two Daniels took to the pit and placed 29th and 34th respectively. Daniel McCormack jumped 6.41 meters while Hiser leaped 6.26 meters on his best attempt.

WOMEN
800m Run: Alexa Daley placed 30th with a time of 2:28.53, while Elizabeth Mak crossed the line in a time of 2:35.41 to place 55th.

100m Dash: Larissa Agbor-Nkongho finished 27th overall with a time of 12.60 seconds. The time for Agbor-Nkongho is good enough to place her eighth on the program top-10 list in the event, moving ahead of Akaila Howard's 2017 time of 12.67 seconds. Cece Samules finished in 34th with a time of 12.749 seconds. Hanna Bauer (13.49s), Maria Da Cunha (13.50s) and Erniesha Guerrier (13.523s) placed in order to round out the Comet contingent in the event.

200m Dash: Guerrier paced a trio of Comets in the event running a PR time of 27.82 seconds and Hanna Bauer clocked in at 28.14 seconds.

400m Hurdles: Maria Da Cunha ran a time of 1:09.99 in the full lap hurdle event. Her time puts her 10th all-time in the event, and bumps Caroline Falk's 2004 time of 1:10.95 from the top-10 list.

4x100m Relay: The quartet of Hanna Bauer, Cece Samuels, Erniesha Guerrier, and Larissa Agbor-Nkongho finished 11th with a time of 49.70 seconds.
