SALISBURY, N.C. – The Capital University men's and women's golf teams opened up their spring season with solid showings at the Muskingum spring break tournament in North Carolina.
On the men's side,
Vince Daher won individually and led the Capital A team to first as a team. The Comets put forth both an A and a B team, while Muskingum also had two teams and Marietta had one team in the competition.
On the women's side,
Mariah Cotsamire won the event individually and led Capital to a second place finish as a team. Each Muskingum, Marietta and Capital had one team in the mix for the event.
MEN
Behind Daher's two-round total of 150, the Comet A team put together a team score of 620 to win the event by 13 strokes. Daher's first round score was 76 and he finished with a day two score of 74.
Rounding up the A team scoring were
Ricky Walsh (76-79–155),
Jack Curtis (81-75–156),
Colin Frimel (79-83–162), and
Angelo Donato (78-85–163).
Comprising the B team to put together a team score of 644, were
Ben Satterthwaite (75-79–154),
Shane Murphy (80-82–162),
Adam Czerniakowski (77-86–163),
Cam Donahue (82-83–165), and
Adam Murphy (88-86–174).
Competing as individuals were
Aidan Isaac (85-82–167) and
Ryan Murphy (87-87–174).
WOMEN
Mariah Cotsamire won the event by seven strokes, finishing the two rounds with a score of 175. Her day one score of 82 was a 18-hole PR. The score is a tie for the sixth lowest single round score in program history. Cotsamire added a score of 93 on day two to polish off the win.
Hannah Frey was the next finisher for Cap, placing tied for third with a two-round score of 190. She put together rounds of 93 and 97.
Avery Fish (100-101–201) and
Abby Crisler (108-106–214) rounded out the scoring for the Comets.
As a team, Capital placed second behind Muskingum with a two round score of 780.
UP NEXT
Capital will remain in North Carolina for the rest of spring break to practice in nice weather, before returning to Ohio to participate in the Pioneer Classic on March 18th and 19th in Marietta, Ohio.
