ADA, Ohio – The Capital University track and field team sent a small group of five student-athletes to the Ohio Northern Final Qualifier this weekend. There, the Comets were testing their shot at improving their season-bests in their respective events and to give it one last shot at NCAA qualification.
MEN
Heptathlon:
Andy Fullmer won the event with a score of 4,689 points, which converts to an NCAA score of 4,714 points when it comes time to seeding for national qualifiers. If the converted mark of 4,714 holds, Fullmer sits 20th in Division III at the moment. Below is a highlight of Fullmer's performances.
- 60m Dash: 7.31 seconds
- Long Jump: 6.15 meters
- Shot Put: 10.03 meters
- High Jump: 1.83 meters
- 60m Hurdles: 8.96 seconds
- Pole Vault: 4.35 meters (moves him from seventh to sixth on the program top-10 list)
- 1,000m Run: 2:57.98
WOMEN
60m Dash: In the prelim race, all three Comets qualified for the finals. In the qualifying race,
Cece Samuels raced to third with a time of 8.14 seconds,
Larissa Agbor-Nkongho qualified fourth in 8.20 seconds, and
Maria Da Cunha finished eighth in 8.62 seconds. In the finals, Samuels was the only one to run for Capital and they placed third in a time of 8.03 seconds.
200m Dash: Both Agbor-Nkongho and Da Cunha raced in the 200 meter dash as well. Agbor-Nkongho placed second in 26.55 seconds and Da Cunha was fourth in 28.81 seconds.
Weight Throw:
Alexa Poling placed third overall with a throw of 14.63 meters.

The Comets will await to see if any of their times or marks from the season will qualify them for next week's national meet. The official announcement will be released by the NCAA on Sunday, March 5th at 7 p.m.
