ATLANTA, Ga. – A handful of top-10 all-time performances highlighted a trip to Atlanta, Georgia for the Capital University track and field team as they competed at the Emory University Thrills in the Hills Invitational this weekend.
Below is a summary of the weekend performances from the Comets.
MEN
400m Hurdles:
Kaden Lowe clocked in a time of 57.43 seconds in the 400 meter hurdles, and was followed by
Kelly Wilson II's 1:01.63 time. Lowe's time just edges Nate Thornhill on the program top-10 list for the 10th spot. Thornhill ran a time of 57.46 seconds in 2005.
200m Dash:
Ishmael Young led a group of four Comets in the race finishing in 23.03 seconds.
Ben Char was right behind with a 23.04 second time. They were followed up by
Daniel Hiser (23.08s) and
Xavier Jennings (23.44s).
3000m Steeplechase:
Donovan Slattery placed second overall in the event with a time of 9:56.33.
5000m Run:
Zach Glotzbecker finished in 16:34.87, while
Zach Brown crossed the line in 18:11.96.
4x100m Relay: The foursome of
Dom Glenn,
Xavier Jennings,
Ishmael Young and
Daniel Hiser finished fourth in a time of 42.48 seconds.
110m Hurdles:
Kelly Wilson II qualified for the finals in eighth place with a prelim time of 15.72 seconds. In the finals, he improved to fourth in a time of 15.37 seconds, which is good to put him 10th all-time in the event for Capital.
100m Dash:
Daniel Hiser placed 20th overall in a time of 11.26 seconds.
400m Dash:
Daniel McCormack led a group of Comets in the 400 with a 19th place finish in 51.37 seconds.
Xavier Jennings finished in 52.43 seconds,
Jeremiah Smith clocked in at 54.83 seconds and
Ben Char crossed the line in 55.95 seconds.
800m Run:
Donovan Slattery paced the Comets with a 24th place finish in 2:02.91.
Zach Glotzbecker finished in 2:08.77 and
Nick Stuck clocked 2:09.05.
High Jump:
Josh Kucker placed 18th, clearing the bar at 1.75 meters.
Javelin:
Jason McColl finished 16th, throwing 37.29 meters.
Long Jump:
Dylan Dowell placed sixth, jumping 6.55 meters.
Daniel Hiser was 16th with a leap of 6.26 meters and
Xavier Jennings jumped 5.33 meters.
Pole Vault:
Wesley Triplett placed seventh, clearing the bar at 3.85 meters.
Discus Throw:
Marvin Jean-Denis placed 23rd with a throw of 35.18 meters, while Toren smith tossed 31.40 meters and
Waylon Yeager threw 23.04 meters.
Shot Put:
Marvin Jean-Denis placed ninth with a throw of 13.25 meters and Jon Kirk threw 12.49 meters.
WOMEN
400m Hurdles:
Maria Da Cunha placed 12th with a time of 1:11.23. She is sitting just about a second off the program top-10 in the event.
200m Dash:
Cece Samuels finished 22nd with a time of 26.60 seconds. They were followed by
Hanna Bauer (27.81s),
Erniesha Guerrier (27.84s) and
Claire Larger (29.42s).
1500m Run:
Elizabeth Mak finished in a new PR time of 5:24.85 and
Alexa Daley was just behind her, finishing in 5:25.72.
400m Dash:
Maria Da Cunha placed 17th in a time of 1:02.71. She was followed by
Erniesha Guerrier (1:05.86) and
Olivia Humes (1:06.94).
800m Run:
Elizabeth Mak crossed the line in 2:32.35 to place 30th.
Hammer Throw:
Alexa Poling placed fifth with her best throw registering 44.02 meters.
Lily Purdon had a solid throw of 34.46 meters as well.
Long Jump:
Claire Larger placed 18th, leaping 4.53 meters, while
Olivia Humes was 22nd with a jump of 4.26 meters.
Triple Jump: Larger finished 17th with her furthest jump marking 9.72 meters.
Discus Throw:
Grace Heckenlively placed fifth with a throw of 37.30 meters – good to place her sixth all-time in the event.
Lily Purdon finished with a throw of 30.68 meters and Deivon McCullough threw 26.79 meters.
Pole Vault:
Bella McCarty placed 10th with a jump of 2.70 meters.
