ASHLAND, Ohio – The Capital University track and field team once again put forth a convincing performance this weekend, this time breaking two school records and setting or improving upon nine other all-time marks in school history.
This week's event took place at the Ashland University Jud Logan Lightgiver Invitational. Much like the Spire Midwest Open, the track at Ashland favored quality performances for the Comets and the team certainly delivered.
MEN
Heptathlon:
Andy Fullmer beat his own school record of 4,467 points in the multi event, recording a score of 4,700 through the two-day affair. Fullmer recorded the following marks to set the record: 60m Dash - 7.29 seconds, Long Jump - 6.52m, Shot Put - 10.45m, High Jump - 1.81m, 60m Hurdles - 9.31 seconds, Pole Vault - 4.30m, 1,000m Run - 2:57.79. The long jump leap of 6.52m moves him into sole possession of eighth all-time in the event, breaking a tie between him and Nick Eley at 6.50m. Eley now sits 9th. Fullmer's pole vault of 4.30m moves him up from 10th to seventh all-time in the event.
200m Dash:
Ishmael Young led the Comet finishers in the event and leapfrogged Travon Bodrick in the all-time standings for fourth best. Young's time of 22.69 beat Bodrick's 22.87 for the fourth spot.
Dom Glenn was next for Capital and narrowly improved his time by a hundredth of a second, clocking in at 23.02 seconds, beating out his previous best of 23.03. Glenn remains eighth all-time with the time.
Daniel McCormack (23.32 seconds),
Kaden Lowe (23.38 seconds),
Dylan Dowell (23.79 seconds) and
Xavier Jennings (24.05 seconds) also competed.
400m Dash:
Daniel McCormack improved his time in the 400 to 50.51 seconds which moves him from sixth to third all-time in Capital history. He is not just .47 seconds off the school record of 50.03 seconds.
Kaden Lowe narrowly missed his PR and clocked a time of 51.53 seconds.
3,000m Run:
Donovan Slattery paced the Comets in the 3K, as he finished in a time of 9:07.59. The time is a near 10-second improvement on his PR and moves him from sixth to fifth on the all-time list in the event.
Zach Glotzbecker was next for Cap finishing in 9:40.69.
4x400m Relay: The quartet of
Daniel McCormack,
Kaden Lowe,
Ishmael Young, and
Dom Glenn finished the race in a time of 3:28.23, good for the sixth fastest indoor 4x4 relay in Cap history.
Pole Vault:
Zion Park cleared the bar at 4.40m, while
Wesley Triplett cleared at 4.10m. The vault for Triplett was a new personal best and moves him into 10th all-time in the event's history at Capital.
Weight Throw:
Toren Smith tossed 11.57m and was followed by
Jesse Foster who threw 11.30m.
Long Jump:
Dylan Dowell leaped 5.96m to lead the Comets.
60m Dash:
Xavier Jennings led the way with a time of 7.43 seconds and he was followed by
Dylan Dowell (7.44 seconds) and
Brandon Rex (7.86 seconds).
800m Run:
Nick Stuck led a duo of Comets in the 800m run with a time of 2:08.12. He was followed by
Jeremiah Smith who clocked in at 2:14.92.
Shot Put:
Toren Smith threw 11.77m, while
Jesse Foster hurled the shot 11.07m.
High Jump:
Josh Kucker made his debut in the event, clearing 1.75m.
WOMEN
200m Dash:
Larissa Agbor-Nkongho blew away the school record in the 200m dash, running a time of 25.59 seconds, good for eighth overall in the event, the highest Division III finisher in a field of 79 runners. The previous record of 25.80 seconds set by Caitlin Prange stood since 2014.
Cece Samuels also improved their spot on the all-time list in the event by running a time of 26.15 seconds. Their previous best was 26.72 seconds. The new time of 26.15 moves them up to fourth all-time.
Hanna Bauer (27.76 seconds) and
Erniesha Guerrier (27.95 seconds) also eclipsed the 28 second mark in the event.
400m Dash: Guerrier and Bauer both ran the 400 as well with Guerrier clocking in at 1:04.39 and Bauer just behind in 1:04.45.
800m Run:
Alexa Daley made her return from injury, running a time of 2:29.40. She was followed by
Elizabeth Mak who finished in 2:39.81.
Long Jump:
Claire Larger leaped 4.63m, while
Olivia Humes jumped 4.40m.
Weight Throw:
Alexa Poling placed 16th with a throw of 14.82m.
Lily Purdon recorded a distance of 11.42m, followed by
Grace Heckenlively's 11.20m.
Triple Jump:
Claire Larger leaped 9.67m in the triple jump.
Shot Put:
Grace Heckenlively threw for 10.67m and she was followed by
Lily Purdon with 10.30m. McCullough also tossed 8.98m.
One Mile:
Elizabeth Mak clocked in an improved 5:45.26 in the mile.
High Jump:
Kennedi Hendricks cleared the bar at 1.45m.
4x400m Relay:
Larissa Agbor-Nkongho,
Hanna Bauer,
Cece Samuels and
Erniesha Guerrier teamed up to run a time of 4:17.98.

Capital will return back to The Capital Center Fieldhouse for their final home event of the season next Saturday, February 11th. Field events are scheduled for 11 a.m. while running events will follow at 1 p.m.
