AKRON, Ohio – On Friday, February 17th, the Capital University track and field program sent a contingent of sprinters to the University of Akron Al Campbell Invite where they competed amongst a slew of Division I and high-level Division II athletes.
Highlighting the action was a slew of quality performances and PRs from each of the competitors. However,
Ben Char's 200 meter dash time was good enough to crack the program all-time list to stand out.
MEN
60m Dash:
Dom Glenn placed seventh in the prelims after running a time of 7.04 seconds. The time qualified him for the finals where he remained seventh with a time of 7.06 seconds.
Ishmael Young was the next finisher for Capital, placing 11th in 7.09 seconds.
Daniel Hiser made his long-awaited season-debut, clocking in a time of 7.21 seconds to place 17th.
60m Hurdles:
Kelly Wilson II qualified for the finals in fourth place after clocking a prelim time of 8.62 seconds. In the finals, Wilson moved up to third with a time of 8.56 seconds.
200m Dash:
Ishmael Young and
Ben Char each competed in the event with Young clocking in at 22.70 seconds, a near carbon copy of his PR of 22.69 seconds. Char clocked in a time of 23.04 seconds, which puts him 9th all-time in Capital history. His time beat out Kyle Farley's time of 23.08 seconds run in 2018 and is just .02 seconds off teammate
Dom Glenn in 8th place all-time.
400m Dash:
Daniel McCormack and
Kaden Lowe each placed top-8 in the 400 meter dash. McCormack was fourth overall with a time of 50.57 seconds. Lowe was eighth with a time of 52.04 seconds.
Long Jump:
Daniel Hiser made his first competitive jumps of the year, registering a top mark of 6.50 meters to place eighth overall.
WOMEN
200m Dash:
Larissa Agbor-Nkongho placed fourth overall with a quality time of 25.93 seconds.
Cece Samuels finished ninth overall in a time of 26.48 seconds.
Hanna Bauer placed 12th in the event with a new PR of 27.40 seconds. The time is just a tenth of a second off the top-10 list.
Erniesha Guerrier placed 14th overall with a time of 28.46 seconds.
400m Dash:
Maria Da Cunha finished 10th overall with a time of 1:02.72. The time is just half a second off the program top-10 list and was the fastest women's 400 meter dash of the season for the Comets.

A group of distance runners are heading to the Raider Tune-Up tomorrow, February 18th to look to improve their times ahead of next week's OAC Indoor Championships to be held at Baldwin Wallace University.
