COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the final time in 2023, the Capital University track and field programs took to their home track as they hosted their fourth event of the indoor season – the Capital OAC Tune-Up.
Along with the handful of Capital Top-10 performances on the day, the highlight proved to be
Dom Glenn's 6.98 seconds 60 meter dash. The time was the first time a Capital sprinter broke seven seconds in the event since Logan Allison did it in 6.95 seconds in 2017 for the current school record.
MEN
60m Dash:
Dom Glenn won the event and clocked in the second fastest 60m dash in program history with a 6.98 seconds. The time was a .12 second improvement on his previous best of 7.10 seconds.
Ishmael Young was the next finisher with a time of 7.11 seconds, good for fourth overall. Fellow Comets in the prelims were
Xavier Jennings (7.34 seconds),
Dylan Dowell (7.39 seconds), Simon Smith (7.68 seconds) and
Brandon Rex (7.72 seconds).
200m Dash: Six Comets competed in the 200, led by
Ben Char's third place finish in a time of 23.40 seconds.
Xavier Jennings (23.84 seconds),
Wesley Triplett (24.63 seconds),
Jeremiah Smith (25.14 seconds), Simon Smith (25.44 seconds) and
Brandon Rex (25.94 seconds) rounded out the performances.
400m Dash:
Daniel McCormack placed second overall with a time of 52.66 seconds and he was followed by
Kaden Lowe in fourth place with a time of 53.75 seconds.
500m Dash:
Nick Stuck beat out teammate
Jeremiah Smith in the men's 500. Stuck clocked a time of 1:12.50 while Smith finished in 1:16.66.
1,000m Run:
Donovan Slattery and
Zach Glotzbecker went 1-2 in the 1K. Slattery took first in 2:41.95 and Glotzbecker was just behind with a time of 2:49.57.
60m Hurdles: Kelly Wilson narrowly won the event with a time of 8.692 seconds.
4x400m Relay: The quartet of
Xavier Jennings,
Ben Char, Kelly Wilson and
Nick Stuck clocked in a time of 3:39.54 to place first overall.
Long Jump:
Daniel McCormack won the event with a near carbon copy of his PR with a jump of 6.59m, just .01m off his previous best of 6.60m.
Dylan Dowell was second with his best jump registering 6.47m. That distance was a new PR and inches him closer to moving up the all-time leaderboard. Already in 10th on the indoor list, Dowell remains 10th but improves .05m off his previous best of 6.42m.
Pole Vault:
Wesley Triplett placed third after clearing the bar at 4.00 meters.
High Jump:
Josh Kucker placed in a tie for fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.83 meters.
Shot Put:
Jesse Foster placed seventh with a throw of 11.49 meters.
Weight Throw:
Jesse Foster and
Toren Smith competed in the race and registered long throws of 11.73m and 10.86m to place fifth and seventh, respectively.
WOMEN
60m Dash:
Larissa Agbor-Nkongho won the event, narrowly edging teammate
Cece Samuels. Agbor-Nkongho finished in a time of 8.026, while Samuels clocked in at 8.028. The pair were more than two tenths faster than the rest of the field.
1,000m Run:
Elizabeth Mak put forth a quality first race in the 1K and cracked the program Top-10 list by running a time of 3:20.21. The time was good for 10th all-time at Capital in the event, beating out Macy Weber's 3:20.90 that was run in 2012.
200m Dash:
Maria Da Cunha led a pair of Comets by winning the event in new personal best time of 27.96 seconds.
Olivia Humes placed sixth in a time of 28.82, also a new PR.
500m Dash:
Alexa Daley (1:27.25),
Hanna Bauer (1:30.08) and
Erniesha Guerrier (1:31.86) placed 1-2-3 in the 500m dash.
4x200m Relay: The quartet of
Maria Da Cunha,
Erniesha Guerrier,
Claire Larger and
Hanna Bauer won the relay with a time of 1:53.29.
High Jump:
Kennedi Hendricks finished second overall, clearing the bar at 1.47m – a new PR by .02 meters.
Long Jump:
Claire Larger placed third with her best jump marking 4.66m.
Olivia Humes was close behind with a jump of 4.46m.
Weight Throw:
Alexa Poling won the event with ease throwing 15.45 meters, almost a full two meters further than second place.
Grace Heckenlively (11.82m),
Lily Purdon (11.27m) and Deivon McCullough (10.45m) rounded out the competition.
Shot Put: The four Comet throwers placed in a bunch, taking third, fourth, sixth and seventh in the event.
Grace Heckenlively paced the group with a toss of 10.90m, followed by
Lily Purdon's 10.47m.
Alexa Poling (9.96m) and Deivon McCullough (9.89m) rounded it out for Capital.
Pole Vault:
Bella McCarty placed in a tie for first after clearing 2.75 meters.

UP NEXT
The Comets will travel to the Al Campbell Invite next weekend, February 17th. The event will be hosted by the University of Akron and will be the team's last time on the track before the OAC Indoor Championships the following weekend.
