Snider, Leonetti Highlight Seven All-OAC Selections for Women’s Soccer

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Ohio Athletic Conference announced the selections of seven Capital University women's soccer players to their postseason award list. 

Leading the group were seniors Lexi Snider and Sophia Leonetti who both garnered All-OAC First Team Honors. In addition, Snider was named the conference's Forward of the Year, while Leonetti was selected as the OAC Midfielder of the Year. 

For Snider, this is her third career special award from the conference as she was named the Freshman of the Year and also Defender of the Year previously. She is the program's sixth different player to be named the Forward of the Year. She is now a four-time All-OAC honoree, having been named first team three times and second team once. 

For Leonetti, this is her first special award from the conference as she becomes the third unique player to be named the conference's Midfielder of the Year. Her First Team accolade is her second consecutive selection by the OAC office. 

Joining Snider and Leonetti on the All-Conference teams this season were Abby English who was also selected to the First Team, Second Team honorees Grace Estes and Liv Alford, and Third Teamers Nicole Ogden and Francesca Longano

This year's award is English's second of her career having been named second team a year ago. Estes and Ogden are both second time honorees as well, having both been previously named to the Third Team. Both Alford and Longano are first time honorees in the postseason. 

On the field this season, Snider started all 20 games played and was the team's leader in total points, finishing with 12 goals and seven assists for 31 points. Of those totals, Snider scored six goals and handed out six assists within conference play alone. 

Leonetti, who also started all 20 games this season, finished third on the team in scoring, ending with seven goals and four assists for 18 points. She finished with three goals and three assists within the OAC. 

English was the Comets' leader defensively, starting 16 of the 17 games she appeared in. She logged 1,412 minutes on the pitch and was a part of a defensive unit that held four shutouts against conference opposition. 

Estes also started every game this season for the Comets, breaking out for a career best 13 goals and four assists on the year, giving her 30 points. In the conference, she finished with six goals and four assists. 

Alford started all 18 games she appeared in as a sophomore. She made 85 saves on the year, good for a 82.5% save percentage. She was a part of the goalkeeping unit that recorded seven shutouts this season. 

Ogden and Longano both started all 20 games for the Comets this year, combining to play nearly 2,800 minutes on the field. They shared the primary role of distributor as each of them finished the year with seven assists each. Ogden added one goal to her season scoring totals as well. 

The Comets finished the season with an overall record of 10-6-4 and a 5-2-2 mark within the conference. As a team, Capital outscored their opponents 46-24 on the season and held statistical advantages over their opponents in nearly every category tracked.
