COLUMBUS, Ohio – On Monday morning, the Ohio Athletic Conference announced the selections of Nick Fisanick and Cain Gonzalez to the All-Conference Honorable Mention teams for football. 

Fisanick, a senior linebacker from Upper Arlington, Ohio only played in four and a half games this season before a season-ending injury derailed his efforts on the field. Prior to his injury, Fisanick was averaging 14.0 tackles per game – a mark that was leading the OAC and tied for first in all of NCAA Division III. In his fifth game of the season, Fisanick suffered an injury blow in the first half and his season ended with a total of 60 tackles through those five games. Despite missing more than half of the season, Fisanick's 60 tackles helped him finish in a tie for third most on the team. 

Gonzalez, a freshman offensive lineman from Springfield, started all 10 games this season for Capital and played every offensive snap of the season. He helped to block for an offense that gained 2,281 yards this season and scored 25 touchdowns. His selection continues a string of three consecutive years in which an offensive lineman has been honored with Honorable Mention accolades. 

Fisanick's award this season is his second career postseason accolade after he was honored with All-Conference honors during the spring of 2021. That season, first and second team honors were combined into one All-Conference team due to the pandemic disruptions experienced during that season.

Gonzalez's award is the first award of his collegiate career and marks the first time a Capital freshman has been selected to a postseason All-Conference team since David Barnett in 2016.
