Capital Football Lands Seven on All-OAC Teams

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – As announced on Monday morning, the Capital University football team landed seven student-athletes on All-Conference teams, the most selections in one season since 2011. 

Leading the group of Comets selected this year is Diamonte Salley who was named First Team as a defensive back. Selected to the Second Team were Kassim Johnson, Wesley Armstead, Declan McAdams, and Cyrus Burden. And rounding out the honorees were Honorable Mention picks Nate Younker and Bryson Roberts

Of the seven honorees, Younker is the only repeat honoree, now having earned his third career All-OAC accolade. He is the first three-time All-OAC player for Cap football since David Barnett won four awards from 2016-19. Also, Salley is the Comets' first All-Conference first team honoree since Thomas Wibbeler and Dar Stanford in 2018. 

During the 2025 season, Salley finished second on the team in total tackles with 62 and he was the clear leader in solo stops with 42. Additionally, Salley led the team with five pass breakups and added one interception and one QB hurry on the year. 

Johnson had a breakout year running the football this season, rushing for 583 yards on 96 attempts. He also found the end zone four times on the ground this season. He added 172 yards receiving as well as one touchdown in this category as well. 

Armstead finished the year second on the team in receiving yards with 459, but led the team in receiving touchdowns with six. He also topped the team in catches with 30. Armstead also had a hand in the running game, rushing for 41 yards and a score this season. 

McAdams was a force defensively, helping lift the Comets as a team to second in the OAC in sacks this year. McAdams finished the season with 39 total tackles which included eight tackles for a loss and four sacks. He added a team-high seven QB hurries and finished tied for the team lead in forced fumbles with two, while also recovering a fumble. He also had two pass breakups. 

Burden was once again an active contributor to the Comet linebacking corp this year, finishing third on the team in tackles with 50. Of those tackles, eight were for a loss and three and a half were sacks. Additionally, he was second on the team with six QB hurries and he recovered a team-high two fumbles. 

Younker was again a go-to target for the Capital passing game as he led the team in receiving yards with 535 yards on 27 catches. He was also second on the team with four receiving scores. As a multi-faceted player for the Comet offense, Younker was 1-for-1 passing for 39 yards. Additionally, he was utilized as the team's holder on kicking plays this season. 

Roberts was another crucial member of the Comets defensive back unit, finishing sixth on the team in tackles with 41 stops. Additionally, he finished tied for the team lead in interceptions with two while also tying for second in breakups with four. He also added a forced fumble this season. 

As a team in 2025, the Capital football program finished with a 3-7 record – their best record since finishing with the same mark in 2018. Additionally, the program made several improvements statistically in many areas on both sides of the football, showing great strides heading into the 2026 season.
