COLUMBUS, Ohio – After a record setting performance at the OAC Indoor Championships, it seems only fitting that after winning both the shot put and the weight throw, Josh Miller will add another accolade to his season after the conference office announced him as the OAC Field Athlete of the Year.

At the OAC Indoor Championships, Miller opened the day with the weight throw, and after sitting third through five attempts, he launched the weight and landed a 17.57-meter (57-7 ¾) toss to top the leader board and claim his first conference title. Later on, Miller stepped into the ring for the shot put and was nothing short of brilliant. After his first four throws, he sat at 17.10-meters, good enough for the win but not good enough for Josh. On his final attempt he went for it all, heaving the rock a shocking 17.86-meters (58-7 1/4) to shatter the previous conference record by over half a meter, and win his second conference crown of the afternoon by more than two-meters.

In a year unlike any other, the senior out of Botkins, Ohio showed up and showed out in every event that he competed for the season. Across five meets, Miller consistently dominated the field to pick up victories in every event of the year, five each in the weight throw and shot put.

Miller now owns four OAC indoor titles after winning in both the shot put and weight throw last season as well. He is also the first athlete to take home back-to-back Field Athlete of the Year awards since fellow Crusader Logan Allison did so in 2017-18 and is just the eighth to accomplish the feat since 1985.

For his indoor career, Miller earned the podium 17 times in the shot put, 13 of those standing on the top step. In the weight throw he has 11 podiums with eight of those being victories. All in all, the senior accumulated 21 victories and 28 podiums across four years of competition which earned him a slew of awards including two NCAA Championship berths and a 2020 All-America designation.
