COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University Softball team dropped both ends of the doubleheader on Saturday to Muskingum in New Concord. One big inning in the first game led to the 7-1 defeat and crooked numbers in the second game ended the day early at 8-0 through five innings.

GAME 1 | L, 7-1

• Brianna Shearer cruised through the early innings, allowing just one run, a solo shot, through 4.1 innings, scattering just three hits.
• In the sixth inning, the Muskies did most of their damage, stringing together hits and capitalizing on errors to score six runs and go up 7-0.
• In the Crusaders final at bats they managed to work runners on base and push one run across as Lauren Kachure scored on a Lexi Leggett sacrifice fly.
• The next out was the last of the game as Capital fell 7-1.

GAME 2 | L, 0-8

• Katelyn Wilhelm drew the start for the second game and was able to keep the Muskies off the board through the first two innings.
• In the third she was roughed up with three runs and two in the fourth inning to bring the score to 5-0.
• Kim Rega came on in relief in the fifth with runners on and faced three batters before Muskingum was able to push across three more runs and end the game early at 8-0.

The Crusaders will play two more versus Muskingum at Clowson Field on Sunday starting at 1p.m.
