FULL COSIDA RELEASE
AUSTIN, Texas -- On Thursday afternoon, Capital University football player
Kameron Lee was announced as an NCAA Division III Academic All-America Second Team selection by CoSIDA. Lee was named to the team as a punter.
This is Lee's third award of the postseason as he was already named All-OAC Honorable Mention and CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team this season alone.Â
Lee, a senior native of Piqua, Ohio, adds his name to a prestigious list of Capital University football players as he is the 10th football player -- and first since Nate Nasrallah in 2012 -- to earn either Scholar or Academic All-America status. Further adding his name to the Capital record books, Kameron becomes the school's 43rd Scholar or Academic All-American. He is Capital's second Academic All-America selection this fall, as Mitch Hughes was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team earlier this month for men's soccer.Â
On the field this season, Lee served as a top-choice wide receiver and as the team's punter. In the punting game, Lee was summoned 60 times and racked up a total of 2,212 punting yards (36.87 yards-per-punt). His long traveled 58 yards and five of his punts sailed 50 or more yards this season. He managed 12 punts that pinned the opponent inside the 20-yard line and induced 13 fair catches. In addition to his punting responsibilities, Lee was the go-to man in the receiving game. He led the team in catches (35) and was second on the team in both yards (497) and touchdowns (4).Â
In his career, Lee finished with 4,775 punting yards (126 punts) and pinned 27 punts inside the opponent 20-yard line. In the receiving game, Kam finished with 1,132 yards and 14 touchdowns. In addition to his All-OAC Honorable Mention selection this season, Kam also earned All-Conference Team honors as a junior.Â
In the classroom, Kam is a Criminology and Psychology major and maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.93. So far in his career, Kam has been named to the Academic All-Conference team for two seasons.Â
Aside from his academics and football successes, Kam has been involved and influential on campus and throughout the community. At Capital, Kam is a resident assistant, a ministry leader and organization chair for Capital Young Life, a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, a bible study leader, and a member of the Football Leadership Council both as a junior and senior.Â
