FULL UNITED SOCCER COACHES RELEASE

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- On Monday morning, the United Soccer Coaches released their 2021 women's soccer All-Region selections, and featured for Region VII and Capital University were Avery Hart and Olivia Rotolo. In previous seasons, Region VII was referred to as the Great Lakes Region. 

Hart, a junior from Pickerington, was named to the Second Team, while Rotolo, a senior from Dublin, was tabbed to the Third Team. Both players were selected to the All-Region teams for the first time in their careers. Both players were also named to the All-OAC First Team earlier this month. Additionally, they are the first Comets to be named All-Region since the 2019 season when Alyssa Kimbler, Jordan Fike, and Maggie Peddicord were all selected. 

Hart finished the year as Capital's leading scorer with nine goals and three assists for 21 points. Her nine goals placed her fifth in the conference and her five game-winning goals had her tied for second in the conference. 

Rotolo took on her role in the center of midfield to near perfection, helping to win possession, disrupt the opponent and hold possession for the Comets. Throughout the year, Rotolo did help on the offensive side of the ball, taking 24 shots, scoring one goal, which came vs. Heidelberg in the OAC Quarterfinals. Rotolo also ended the year with two assists. 

Both Hart and Rotolo helped lead Capital to a 9-8-2 record overall on the season, which included a 7-1-1 mark within the conference.
