SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Capital University women's lacrosse team spoiled Wittenberg University's first game inside its newest athletic facility, The Steemer, after defeating the Tigers 22-14 on Wednesday night. Brianna Rampi and Kathryn Walton both hit major career milestones as part of the win.

COMING OUT ON FIRE
- Capital scored the first four goals of the game inside a seven-minute span of time. Senior midfielder Kathryn Walton kicked off the run when scoring off of a feed from sophomore Luci Kanowsky 2:09 into the contest.
- Fresh of her nine-point performance in the season opener, junior midfielder Brooke Delara got back to work with her first goal of the game from Dylan Smith just eight seconds after the opening tally. She then served up a pass to senior Brianna Rampi that turned into Cap's third straight goal.
- Kat Walton scored her second goal of the season and put Capital up 4-0 before Wittenberg scored its first goal of the game 7:10 into the game.
- Capital responded to the goal with three more of its own. Smith kicked off the rally followed by Hannah Searles' first goal of the season to put the Crusaders up 6-1. When Rampi scored just four seconds later the Tigers lifted their starting goalie, Joanna Stecz, who had not made a save in her 9:19 on the field.
THE BARRAGE CONTINUES …
- While the scoring did not come in the heaps it had in the opening minutes, Capital continued to break away from the Tigers to take a 15-7 lead into the locker room.
- Wittenberg climbed back to within three goals with 14:11 to play in the first half, but the Crusaders roared back with four unanswered goals, bookended by Kat Walton.
- Freshman defender Avery Hart made her debut late in the first and scored the first goal of her career, unassisted, to increase Cap's lead to 13-6.
- Tiger reserve goalie Abby Sammons did make six saves before the end of the first half, but she also allowed eight more Capital goals as the pressure continued to mount.
- With three more goals to begin the second half, two of which were scored by Brianna Rampi, the Crusaders continued its run that went five goals deep.
- Up 18-7, Wittenberg responded with four unanswered goals including three by Gabby Zysik. That run was interrupted by Walton and Delara getting back into the score column with their fifth and fourth goals, respectively.
BIG TIME NUMBERS
- Senior Brianna Rampi (Hilliard, Ohio / Hilliard Darby) quietly made a scene with a career high seven goals to lead both sides in the scoring column.
- Kathryn Walton (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington Central) scored the 200th point of her career after scoring the fifth of her six goals on the night. She also tallied two assists, six ground balls and six draw controls.
- Brooke Delara (Lewis Center, Ohio / Olentangy Orange) had a six-point evening.
- Senior Katie Parks (Loveland, Ohio / Loveland) earned the start and the win after playing the first half between the pipes. She made three saves in that time before giving way to sophomore Bee Kuehn, who finished the game in net.
- Zysik led Wittenberg with five goals and seven points, while teammate Libby Wadds scored four goals and two assists in support.

Capital (2-0) will suit up for another road game this Saturday, February 22 against Transylvania University. The first draw will take place at 1 p.m.
