BEREA, Ohio – Going up against the team that ended Capital University Women's Lacrosse's season in the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament last season, the Crusaders came out with something to prove and sent a message with an 18-3 win over Baldwin Wallace University.

The Yellow Jackets were one of two undefeated teams in the conference entering the day but Capital quickly imposed its will with two goals in the span of a minute less than three minutes in. Taylor Thomas (Massillon, Ohio/Jackson) netted the first and Makenna Ozenghar (Younstown, Ohio/Cardinal Mooney) added the second while Regan Hanood (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) assisted on both.

After the Yellow Jackets were able to pull one back at the 26:29 mark, the Crusaders caught fire and went on an eight-goal run that Baldwin Wallace was not able to break through. Kara Hines (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) and Hanood each scored twice during the eight-score stretch. Ozenghar also added her second of the game and Brooke Delara (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy Orange), Brianna Rampi (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Darby) and Kathryn Walton (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central) each found the back of the net. Baldwin Wallace was able to pull one back with 32 seconds until halftime but by then the damage had been done.

The Crusaders picked up right where they left off after the break and scored six unanswered to start the half and then adding two more at the end of the contest.

Hanood set career highs in assists with eight and points with 10 in the contest and is now only two assists away from 100 career helpers. Hines led the team with five scores, six ground balls and 11 draw controls. Walton and Ozenghar each finished with three points.

In goal, Lisa Lotz (Lynchburg, Va./Jefferson Forest) picked up her ninth win of the season and made two saves while allowing two goals. . Katie Parks (Loveland, Ohio/Loveland) played the final 18 minutes of the game and made three saves against one goal allowed.

As a team, Capital had more clears, ground balls, draw controls, free position shots, and shots than the Yellow Jackets. Capital outshot BW 33-14.
