Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – Women's Lacrosse locked up the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament's second seed with a convincing victory over Muskingum University on Saturday afternoon. Battling wet field conditions, the Crusaders never relinquished control after building a large lead early in the first half.
Sophomore Kara Hines (Columbus, Ohio) got the Crusaders (11-4, 6-1 OAC) the lead quickly with a goal in the first two minutes of the contest. The goal was number 55 on the season for Hines.
The Fighting Muskies (5-12, 1-6) attempted to fight back with back to back goals, scored by Ashley Adams and Carissa Myler, but Capital had other ideas with six-straight goals before half time.
Kim Hoerauf (Worthington, Ohio) contributed two goals while Marlee Mcloud (Milford, Ohio) scored her second goal of the season during the 6-0 first-half run.
Sophomore Taylor Thomas (Massillon, Ohio) recorded her fist of three second-half goals on a free position shot with 26 minutes left on the clock.
With 6:30 left on the clock, Regan Hanood (Pickerington, Ohio) gave the Crusaders a 10-goal lead, allowing Capital to continuously run the clock on its way to picking up its 11th win of the season.
The Crusaders held a staggering 28-7 shot advantage over the Muskies, 23 of Capital's shots landed on goal. Muskingum committed 18 turnovers, eight of them caused by the Crusaders. Capital picked up 18 ground balls while finishing 10-for-12 on clears.
Thomas paced Capital with a game-high four goals while teammates Hines, Hanood, and Hoerauf finished with three apiece.
Capital finishes the regular season on a roll winning six of its last seven. The Crusaders host John Carroll (11-4, 5-2) on Wednesday, May 4 for the first round of the OAC Tournament. Start time is TBA.
