Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Capital University women's lacrosse team had its three-match winning streak snapped by nationally-ranked University of Mount Union, Friday night. The Crusaders lost their conference opener by a 14-4 decision under the lights at Mount Union Stadium.
Capital's offense was slow to get started and in the meantime, the No. 20 Purple Raiders quickly struck to take a commanding lead early in the match. Mount Union scored the first seven goals on the match. It was not until the 27th minute that Capital scored their first goal of the game on Regan Hanood's successful free-position attempt to make the score 7-1.
Marjie McNamara completed her hat trick with the first goal of the second half, one of two the Raiders scored to make for an 11-1 score.
Kara Hines (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne), Korri Titus (Pickerington, Ohio/North) and Victoria Husain (Westerville, Ohio/South) each scored in the second half to account for all of Capital's scoring. No Crusader marked up more than one goal.
Mount Union's Taylor Pensyl led both sides in scoring, posting four goals and one assist to help her team remain undefeated. The Raiders are now 10-0 overall and 1-0 after their first conference game.
Capital (6-2, 0-1 OAC) will play its next two games at Bernlohr Stadium, each against OAC competition. They will host Wilmington College on Wednesday, April 8 at 5 p.m. to begin that back-to-back string of matches.
