Capital University sophomore Maura Rose was selected Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Hitter of the Week for the week ending March 31, the league announced Monday, April 1.

Rose, a catcher from Williamsport, Pa., enjoyed one of the best games of her career in the second game of a doubleheader last Saturday against John Carroll. She finished 3-for-5, including a towering, three-run home run to left field, and knocked in five runs to lead the Crusaders to an 11-4 victory and help the team salvage a split against the Blue Streaks.

In the opening game of the twin bill, Rose had one of Capital's four hits in a 5-0 setback.

Through Monday's games against Transylvania, Rose is batting .305 with five doubles, a pair of home runs and a team-best 15 runs batted in. She has started all 18 of the team's games and is tied for the team lead with five walks.

Each week, OAC coaches and sports information directors nominate student-athletes for each sport in season for the award.
