Sophomores Melissa Verhoff (Ottawa, Ohio; at right) and Marissa Price (Tiffin, Ohio) posted four kills apiece to lead the Capital offense. Playing in her final match, senior Leanne Schaefer (Verona, Wis.) recorded three kills and a team-best five blocks, including four solo.
Also playing in her final contest, senior Shannon Quinn (Miamisburg, Ohio) led the team with 10 digs. Quinn entered the week as the nation's leader in digs per set.
The Crusaders battled the Cardinals to a 15-15 tie in the opening set before Otterbein scored six straight points and 10 of the last 13 to take a one-set advantage on its home floor. The Cardinals took identical 8-2 leads in the second and third sets and didn't look back in either frame.
Capital's OAC Tournament appearance was the program's 18th straight. Earlier this season, coach Pam Briggs became the 38th head coach in NCAA Division III history to reach 400 career wins.
