Volleyball Drops Midweek Game to Kenyon

Columbus, Ohio - For a midweek matchup, the Capital volleyball team welcomed the Kenyon Owls to Capital Center Arena for a 7 p.m. start. The Comets fell to the Owls, 3-0. Kenyon improved its record to 5-9, while Capital now sits at 3-9.

Throughout the three sets, Ava Knight led the offense with 10 kills. Behind her, Cici Harris had eight kills and two blocks. Setter Carlee Thompson led the team in assists with 15, while Stefanee Stacey followed with 13 assists. Libero Shy Black led the back row with 14 digs while also leading the service line with two aces.

In the first set, Kenyon showed off its offensive attack, posting its highest hitting percentage of .371 and recording 15 kills. While Capital also recorded 15 kills, the Owls were able to pull away midway through the set after two straight aces, taking a 25-21 first-set victory.

By the second set, play between both teams remained competitive, but once again, Kenyon found a rhythm at the service line that allowed it to build a cushion. Capital came back fighting to bring the score to 20-20, but Kenyon pushed for the final three points to secure a 25-22 second-set victory.

The third set saw a back-and-forth rhythm, with Capital recording 10 kills to Kenyon's 15. The teams were deadlocked at 15-15 in the middle of the set until Kenyon pushed four straight points to take the win.
