COLUMBUS, Ohio -Â The Capital volleyball team wrapped up play at the Pam Briggs Classic as hosts Saturday morning. After splitting day one of action, the Comets came back for day two to take on Hanover College.
The Comets fell to the Pioneers in three sets, dropping to 2-6 on the season, while Hanover improved to 5-3.
Comet leaders included
Carlee Thompson, who dished out 11 assists while also leading the team with eight digs. Offensively,
Chloe Preocanin,
Abby Reed and
Ava Knight each contributed four kills.
Cici Harris chipped in two blocks in the middle.
With a strong .447 attacking percentage, Hanover was able to start the match with solid offensive momentum, pushing its way to a 25-12 first-set victory. In the second set, Hanover's serving opportunities grew and helped lead the way, as the Pioneers recorded 11 aces across three sets. Hanover took another wide 25-14 set win.
To close out the match, Capital generated its highest attacking percentage of the three sets at .222, but it wasn't enough as Hanover completed the sweep with a 25-15 third-set win.

Next week, the Comets return to action at the Capital Center Performance Arena, bringing Earlham College to Columbus for a 7 p.m. matchup.
