Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Centre at Home

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University men's lacrosse team endured a lengthy weather delay that pushed back the start of the game, before eventually holding strong with Centre College in an eventual 11-6 loss on Saturday. The Comets cut the lead to 8-6 midway through the fourth quarter, but a late flurry by the Colonels led to the final scoreline.

Capital is now 0-4 early in the season, while Centre improved to 3-1.

Through the first quarter, Capital found themselves behind 2-0 early on, but rebounded well to tie the game thanks to a pair of goals from Charlie Howenstine. Elliott Rhoton and Braylon Dawson secured assists on those two goals.

Despite leveling the game at 2-2, Centre snuck another goal before the end of the period to lead 3-2.

In the second quarter, Centre scored two more to make the halftime score, 5-2.

Out of halftime, both teams went goal-for-goal as the schools each scored three in the third stanza. The Comet scoring in that quarter came via Colton Woods, Evan Legner and Howenstine again.

In the fourth quarter, Centre removed doubt after Jess Lipp cut the lead to 8-6, by finishing the game with three goals to secure an 11-6 victory.
