Comets Fall to Baldwin Wallace in OAC Doubleheader

BEREA, Ohio - The Capital Comets dropped both ends of a Saturday doubleheader against the Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets at Fisher Field, falling 15-3 in game one before a high-scoring 19-10 decision in game two.

GAME ONE (15-3 L)
Capital struck first in the opening inning, using an RBI triple from Robby Harrison to take an early 1-0 lead. After Baldwin Wallace tied the game in the second, the Comets regained the advantage in the third when Bryce Kyees delivered an RBI single, and added another run in the fourth on an RBI knock from M. Andryszczyk to build a 3-1 cushion.

Kyees finished 1-for-2 with an RBI and two walks, while Harrison went 1-for-4 with an RBI triple. Trent Clark and Gio Mastrorosa each added a hit, and Andryszczyk chipped in an RBI as part of Capital's six-hit effort.

The momentum shifted quickly in the bottom of the fourth, as Baldwin Wallace capitalized on defensive miscues and timely hitting to plate six runs and take control. The Yellow Jackets followed with another six-run frame in the fifth, breaking the game open and extending the lead to double digits.

On the mound, Nash Andrix took the loss after allowing seven runs (three earned) over 3.1 innings. Tyler Bebout surrendered six runs in relief, while Aidan Prenc struck out three over 2.1 innings of work.

GAME TWO (19-10 L)
The nightcap turned into an offensive battle, with both teams combining for 29 runs and 33 hits.

After falling behind early, Capital chipped away and exploded for a seven-run fifth inning to erase a deficit and tie the game at 7-7. The inning featured contributions throughout the lineup, including a two-RBI double from Hutch Crociata and a two-RBI double from M. Andryszczyk.

Kielan LaMarr led the way with a 3-for-5 performance, scoring three runs and adding a double and a stolen base. Bryce Kyees continued his strong day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two walks. Crociata finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a double, while Andryszczyk added two hits and two RBIs.

Ty Clifton also drove in a run, and the Comets totaled 12 hits while drawing five walks in the contest.

Baldwin Wallace answered immediately in the bottom half of the fifth, reclaiming the lead with a four-run inning before continuing to add on with runs in the sixth and eighth. The Yellow Jackets totaled 21 hits in the game, pulling away late despite Capital's offensive surge.

Trevor Woodyard was issued with the loss after allowing 10 runs over 4.1 innings, while the bullpen combined for the remaining innings.
