GRANVILLE, Ohio - Capital University baseball faced a strong test on the road Friday afternoon, dropping both ends of a doubleheader to No. 1 ranked Denison. Capital moves to 11-11 on the season following the doubleheader, while Denison improves to 17-1.
GAME ONE (15-1 L)
Denison wasted no time jumping ahead in the opener, plating four runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looking back. The Big Red added six more in the third and four in the fourth to build a commanding early lead.
Capital was limited offensively, managing just three hits in the contest. Michael Andryszczyk led the way for the Comets, going 2-for-3 with a double and the team's lone RBI. His fifth-inning single brought home Gio Mastrorosa for Capital's only run. Andy Gill also recorded a hit, while the Comets drew two walks and were hit by two pitches.
On the mound, Noah Bromberg took the loss after allowing four runs in the first inning. Diego Astacio provided two innings of relief, while Nash Andrix and Tyler Bebout combined to close out the game.
GAME TWO (11-0 L)
The nightcap followed a similar script, as Denison controlled the game after a scoreless opening inning. The Big Red broke through with two runs in the second before adding four in the third to extend their advantage, and continued to tack on runs in the middle innings.
Capital struggled to generate offense, recording just one hit—a seventh-inning single from Robby Harrison. The Comets were held scoreless and struck out 15 times as a team.
William Furry was charged with the loss after allowing six runs over three innings. Casey Wilkins came on in relief, with Drew Pfundt and Aidan Prenc also seeing time on the mound.

The Comets will resume Ohio Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, Apr. 8, when they take on Wilmington College at Huntington Park. Game one will begin at 1:00 PM.
