Men’s Lacrosse Struggles on the Road at Kenyon

GAMBIER, Ohio – The Capital University men's lacrosse team fell to 0-2 on the season as they dropped their second straight road game on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 18-2 at Kenyon. The Owls are now 3-1 overall.

Capital found themselves on the backfoot early as Kenyon jumped out to a 5-0 lead after about seven minutes of action. Despite being down, Charlie Howenstine dispatched an unassisted goal to make it 5-1 with 6:01 left in the first quarter.

Unfortunately for the Comets, Kenyon scored the next 11 goals to go up 16-1 by the end of the third quarter.

To start the fourth quarter, Tyler Lieu won the opening faceoff and took the ground ball himself straight to goal and scored the Comets' second of the game.

Despite the goal, Kenyon would add two more to make the final score 18-2.

As Howenstine and Lieu came up with the goals, the team was led in ground balls by Freddy Noday (5), Wyatt Stemler (3), Devin Flynn (2), Lieu (2), Mason Ridgway (2), Gino Nave (2), and Howenstine (2).

Eric Patterson and Ridgway each had a caused turnover.

Noday was 7-for-13 in faceoffs, while Lieu was 4-of-11 in his battles.
