Men’s Golf Wins OAC Fall Preview at River Greens

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ohio – Kicking off the action at the OAC Fall Preview at River Greens Golf Course, the Capital men's golf team took home the overall win among 10 teams, finishing eight shots ahead of the second-place team.

Keegan Billingham captured the individual championship for Capital, shooting a 3-under-par 141 after 36 holes among a field of 56 golfers. Billingham's first-round score of 68 tied for the third-lowest first-round score in Capital program history, while his total score of 141 ranks fourth in program history after 36 holes.

The Comets sat atop the leaderboard after the opening round, carding a team score of 296. Capital followed with a 303 in the second round to collect a total team score of 599 and claim the tournament victory.

Rounds One and Two
Keegan Billingham led the way for Capital, firing a 4-under-par 68 to claim the top spot on the individual leaderboard. Billingham finished three strokes ahead of the field after a strong opening round. In the second round, Billingham shot a 1-over-par 73 to finish with a 141 total, breaking into two program records for Capital.

Comet Porter Illig finished with an 80 in the opening round, tying for 23rd. In the second round, Illig came back strong with a 70 (2-under-par) to move into a tie for seventh overall.

Closing out the top three for the Comets, Harrison Labahn carded an 80 in the opening round, tying for 23rd. Labahn responded in the second round with a 71 (1-under-par) to move into a tie for ninth.

Logan Wycoff finished the opening round tied for 15th with a 77 before shooting a 75 in the second round to finish tied for 12th.

Nolan Frey also finished the first round tied for 15th with a 77 and remained tied for 15th after shooting another 77 in the second round.

Tyler Caleodis put together a 73 in the opening round to sit tied for fourth before shooting an 83 in the second round to finish tied for 19th.

Brian Luft carded an 80 in the opening round, tying for 23rd, before shooting a 77 in the second round to finish tied for 25th.

Andreas Reider followed closely behind, shooting a 78 in the opening round to sit tied for 19th before shooting an 82 in the second round to finish tied for 31st.

Rylan Archey posted an 84 in the opening round to finish tied for 40th before improving to 35th place with a 78 in the second round.

Nick Martin finished with an 86 in the opening round before improving to a 78 in the second round, landing in a tie for 38th.

Andrew Arway carded an 87 in the opening round before shooting an 85 in the second round to land in 50th, while Jay Danhauer rounded out the Comets with a 91 in the opening round and a 90 in the second round to finish 54th to help the Comets claim the tournament victory.

With this victory, the men will look to carry their momentum into the Beaver Fall Classic at Sycamore Springs Golf Course in Findlay, Ohio, on October 10 and 11.
