Comets Can’t Keep Up with Heidelberg’s Three-Point Attack

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Capital University men's basketball hosted the Student Princes of Heidelberg in a conference matchup. Capital had a slow start offensively, allowing Heidelberg to jump out to an early lead. The Student Princes were very efficient from beyond the arc, shooting 45.2% as a team from three-point range. The Comet offense improved in the second half but it wasn't enough to get them back into the game leading to a final score of 91-77.

The loss makes Capital 6-11 on the year and 1-7 against conference opponents. Winning improves Heidelberg to 9-7 and 3-4 in the OAC.

The Comet offense had a hard time settling in, allowing the Student Princes to jump out to an early lead. Heidelberg was red hot from three to start the game, making six of their first ten. Capital's offensive effort in the first half was led by Julian Mitchell with 11 points and Se'Ron Calloway-White who had nine. As the Comets continued to have difficulties offensively, Heidelberg's three-point onslaught continued allowing them to go into the half up 52-32. Capital's offensive production increased in the second half. McKane Finkenbine came up big for the Comets, scoring 14 points in the half. The second effort wasn't enough though, leading to a final score of 91-77.

The Numbers
Se'Ron Calloway-White led the Comets in points with 17. He also logged three rebounds and two assists.

Cade Davies had a career day, recording his first double-double scoring 16 points and leading the team in rebounding with 10. He also recorded two assists and a steal.

McKane Finkenbine led Capital in assists with four. He had a great second half offensively scoring 14 points.

Julian Mitchell scored 14 points for the Comets and led the team in steals with two.

Kamran Ensley had a solid game in the paint, scoring seven points and leading the team with two blocks.

UP NEXT
Capital University men's basketball will travel to Marietta, Ohio to take on the Pioneers in a conference matchup. The game will take place Saturday, January 24 with a 1:00 pm tipoff.
