Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Strong Second Half Gives Comets 94-71 Victory over Marietta

MARIETTA, Ohio Capital men's basketball delivered one of its most complete performances of the season on Friday afternoon, pulling away in the second half for a decisive 94-71 Ohio Athletic Conference road win over Marietta at Ban Johnson Arena. The win moves Capital to 7-11 overall and 2-7 in OAC play.

The Comets and Pioneers traded momentum throughout the opening half, with neither side leading by more than a few possessions. Capital closed the final minute strong, using a fast-break layup from Dallas Tucker to knot the score at 40-40 heading into the locker room.

Capital took control immediately after halftime, opening the second half on a surge fueled by defensive pressure and efficient offense. The Comets shot an impressive 78.6 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes, steadily building separation and turning a one-point game into a double-digit advantage just five minutes into the half.

Se'Ron Calloway-White had a career day, leading all scorers with a career high 31 points on 13-of-18 shooting. The sophomore is the first CU player since Joey Weingartner to surpass the 30 point mark in a game. Weingartner had 32 points in a November, 2018 victory over Adrian. Calloway-White would round out his performance with seven rebounds.

McKane Finkenbine followed with 16 points and seven assists, while Dallas Tucker contributed 15 points and five steals in an energetic all-around effort.

Chris Mitchell posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, anchoring the Comets inside.

Capital's offense was balanced and relentless, finishing with 52 points in the paint and 21 fast-break points. The Comets also forced 18 turnovers and converted them into 23 points, using defense to spark scoring opportunities throughout the second half.
