WOOSTER, Ohio – The Capital University volleyball team found themselves on the wrong side of a 3-2 scoreline on the road at Wooster tonight, dropping to 0-4 on the season.
The Comets opened up the match up two sets to none, but could not finish the job as Wooster took the final three sets to steal the win. In the end the set scores read 25-21, 27-25, 21-25, 18-25, 12-15.
In the offense for Capital throughout the match,
Samaree Perkins led the way with 15 kills which marked a career-high for the middle blocker. Perkins was followed closely by
Chloe Preocanin who also landed a career-high 14 kills.
Ryann Bunyak and
Olivia Milton rounded out the offensive leaders with eight kills each. Milton's eight marked a career-best for the freshman.
Carlee Thompson set up 40 assists in the match, which marked a Capital-high for the transfer setter.
At the service line, Capital landed seven aces – three from
Abby Brunner, and one each from
Morgan Metzger, Preocanin,
Shy Black and
Reagan Irons.
In the back row of defense, freshman
Shy Black scooped up a career-best 29 digs. She was followed by Brunner's 25 digs and Metzger's career-high 14 digs.
In the front line of defense,
Samaree Perkins had two solo blocks and
Chloe Preocanin and
Olivia Milton each added a solo block as well.

The Comets will play their home opener on Friday, September 5th at 3 p.m. vs. Allegheny. The match will be the first of four over the weekend for the Comets as they host their annual Pam Briggs Classic on Friday and Saturday.
