GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Capital University women's soccer team battled Denison University to a narrow, 3-2 defeat on the road on Saturday afternoon. There, the Comets got goals from
Lizzie Elliott and
Sofia Walton, but could not overcome the Big Red's three goals scored.
The result ended Capital's three-game winning streak and their shutout streak, while also making Capital 5-3-1 overall. Denison improved to 5-2-2 overall after coming out on top in the evenly played match.
The Big Red got goals in the 3rd, 39th, and 67th minutes to get the job done, while the Comets' goals came from Elliott in the 34th minute and Walton in the 74th minute.
For Elliott, the goal marked her second of the season, while the goal for Walton was the first of her career.
All-in-all,
Liv Alford made six saves in the Comet net.
