Volleyball Swept in Tri-Match at Denison

GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Capital University volleyball team traveled to Denison University on Saturday where they played two matches on the day against the hosts, Denison, and Bluffton University. There, Capital lost both matches by scores of 3-0 and 3-1. 

The Comets are now 1-10 overall, while Denison is 7-6 and Bluffton is 7-8 overall. 

MATCH ONE: Denison def. Capital (25-15, 25-17, 25-19)
The Comets were led offensively by Chloe Preocanin who landed six kills in the match, followed by Olivia Milton who had five. Abby Reed ended with four kills as well. 

In distribution, Carlee Thompson had eight assists and Kenadee Winters finished with six, while Abby Brunner had three. 

At the service line, Shy Black landed two aces, joined by Samaree Perkins with one. 

In defense, Brunner finished with 16 digs, while Winters (7) and Preocanin (5) followed. 

MATCH TWO: Bluffton def. Capital (17-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-17)
Capital tallied up 44 kills in the match, led strongly by Abby Reed who had 11 kills. Both Ryann Bunyak and Olivia Milton finished with nine kills each as well. 

The offense was guided by Kenadee Winters with 20 assists and Carlee Thompson with 13 assists. 

In service, the team landed six aces – two each from Samaree Perkins and Thompson, and one a piece from Chloe Preocanin and Shy Black

In the back row, Abby Brunner finished with 17 digs, followed by 12 from Winters. 

At the net, Capital was led by Perkins and Milton who each had two blocks – one assist and one solo. Winters and Reed combined on the other block of the day.

Capital will head back out on the road on Wednesday, September 24th for a road match at Earlham College at 7 p.m.
