COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University volleyball team rallied to five sets in a tough 3-2 loss against Ohio Wesleyan on Friday night. The match was the first for the Comets since September 6th.
The result moves Capital's record to 1-8 overall and OWU's to 5-6 on the season.
The Comets performed well all around in the five-setter that saw the set scores finish 23-25, 25-22, 18-25, 26-24, 14-16 in favor of OWU. The offense landed 52 kills in the match, led by a trio of attackers in double-digit kills.
Samaree Perkins and
Chloe Preocanin each landed 12 kills, while
Olivia Milton landed 11.
Kenadee Winters (21) and
Carlee Thompson (15) shared the setting duties as they split the majority of 45 assists.
At the service line, Capital landed 12 aces, thanks to a career-best seven from Preocanin.
Abby Brunner and
Shy Black each added two aces, while Perkins accounted for one.
In defense, Brunner was everywhere on the court collecting a season-high 37 digs. Winters was the other Comet in double figure digs with 10, while Preocanin and Thompson each had seven digs.
At the net, Capital sent back eight blocks – six of which were solo. Milton led the way with two solo blocks and two assisted swats. Perkins ended with three solo blocks as well. Preocanin had one solo swat, while Winters and
Abby Reed were each in on one block assist each.

Capital will head out on the road for their next six matches, starting tomorrow, September 20th with two matches in Granville, Ohio. First, Capital will take on Denison at noon before they play Bluffton at 2 p.m.
