HOLLAND, Mich. – The Capital University women's soccer team once again traveled north to Michigan to play a team from the MIAA conference, this time in the form of Hope College. There, the Comets fell by a final score of 2-0 on what seemed to be a bit of an off night for the Purple and White offensively.
Capital now sits at 2-2-1 overall, while Hope moves to 3-2-1 overall.
The Comets fell behind in the ninth minute as Olivia Dieppa scored a header off a corner kick. From there, the hosts continued to pour it on, but Capital defense held strong.
In the second half, Hope again scored a header, this time off the head of Ainsley Harris in the 57th minute. Again, the Comet defense was forced to work hard, limiting Hope to just the two goals on 22 shots in the game.
Three Comets took three shots toward goal in the form of
Taylor Duff,
Sarah Kelly, and
Sofia Walton but could not find a breakthrough.
Liv Alford made a season-best nine saves in net for Capital.
