Women’s Soccer Falls to Trine in Home Opener

Columbus Ohio – On a sunny day in Bernlohr Stadium, the Capital University women's soccer team took on the Trine Thunder. Both teams were looking to add to their win column, as the two came into the game 1-0. With all to play for on a beautiful Labor Day, Trine emerged with a 3-0 result, moving to 2-0, while Capital slipped to 1-1 overall

Trine scored early in the first half, and two goals well into the second to account for the scoring. Capital could never find a definitive groove offensively, ending in a scoreless effort after the game. Besides the score, both teams put on an impressive defensive display and the Comets maintained a large share of possession throughout. Liv Alford put up an impressive eight saves on the stat sheet, many crucial to the Comets staying in the game. The Thunder were also able halt any advances by the Comets with their goalkeeper finishing with seven saves. Both teams were similar in their ability to put shots on goals, where The Comets and the Thunder each took 14 shots.

Physicality was evident in this game as both teams experienced yellow cards, and many saw from the stands the physical component of the game.
