Multiple Comets have Career Days in Men’s Lax’s Dominant Win

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Capital University men's lacrosse team (4-7, 2-3 OAC) put themselves back in the win column with a dominant 19-2 victory over the Student Princes of Heidelberg (3-10, 0-6 OAC) in an OAC matchup. It was an all-out offensive onslaught for the Comets tonight, who set a new program record of 77 shots.

The night started fast for the Comets, with Zen Kropp finding the back of the net only 10 seconds into the contest. After some close calls and good saves by the Heidelberg goalie, Jacob Poole ripped a shot that found its way through, allowing Capital to take a 2-0 lead. Not long after that Kaison Durham was able to find Zen Kropp who scored his second of the night with 10:49 left in the first period. The score would stay 3-0 for the rest of the quarter, due to an impressive showing from the Heidelberg goalie.

Period number two saw some more action from both sides. The Student Princes struck first in the second quarter, cutting the lead to 3-1. The Purple and White struck back only seconds later when defenseman Dylan Christopherson fired one in on an assist from Anthony Carusone. Heidelberg was able to break through the solid Capital defense one more time for what would be their last goal of the night. Ian Zaletel, Ty Chase, and Jacob Poole would each score a goal to make the score 7-2 going into halftime. The Comet offense was in attack mode, shooting 41 shots in the first half alone.

The second half in Bernlohr saw a shutout, with Capital scoring six goals in each the third and fourth quarter. Mason Miller set the Comets off in the third period with a question mark goal, coming around the from the back of the crease and scoring. Jacob Poole had a solid period, scoring two more. Rob Smith put the final nail in it with a 1:19 in the contest, making the score 19-2 which would be the final.

THE NUMBERS
Jacob Poole scored a career high five goals on the night with nine shots on goal and three ground balls.

Kaison Durham finished the game with one goal, a shared game-high two assists, and five ground balls which is a career high. Speaking of career highs, Durham caused two turnovers, a stat which he led the team in.

Zen Kropp shot well, scoring two goals. He made an impact outside of just scoring, bringing in a career high seven ground balls.

Anthony Carusone scored a career high three goals, along with seven ground balls, which was also a career high.

Mason Miller scored his first two career goals tonight in flashy fashion. He was also a co-assist leader with two. 

Ian Zaletel scored one goal, contributing to the Comet's offensive effort.

Rob Smith had a goal of his own, and was a co-assist leader with two, which was a career high for him.

Jonathan Hart found the back of the net twice, scoring his first two career goals and scooping up two ground balls.

Ty Chase was able to find the back of the net, scoring one goal as well as rounding up three ground balls.

Dylan Christopherson scored his first career goal tonight. 

Freddy Noday was a perfect 13-for-13 on faceoffs and led the team with eight ground balls.

Tyler Lieu went 10-for-12 on faceoffs tonight and was a co-leader in ground balls with eight.

Eric Patterson was a co-leader in caused turnovers tonight with two.

Luc Kadlic (2-2), Wyatt Stemler, and Preston Garibay split time in the cage. Kadlic got the start and the win, playing 40 minutes and saving the ball two times. Stemler played 15 minutes, and Garibay played the first 5 minutes of his career.
