COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University men's lacrosse team (4-8, 2-4 OAC) played their penultimate home game on Saturday, hosting Ohio Northern (11-4, 6-1 OAC), ultimately falling 4-12. It being the last Saturday home game of the season, the Comets also celebrated Senior Day, honoring the careers of
Tyler Carney,
Ty Chase,
Zen Kropp,
Nate Hubler,
Jacob Poole, and
Max Schillig.
CU put up a strong defensive front, holding Ohio Northern to one of their lowest goal totals of the season as well as keeping the Polar Bears scoreless when it came to man-up opportunities. Unfortunately, the Purple and White would struggle to get anything going on offense, only scoring four throughout the first three quarters and being shutout in the fourth.
Jacob Poole would put in the first goal in the first quarter, while
Mason Spaulding was responsible for the two in the second, and the one in the third. On the other side, ONU scored four in the first, six in the second, and one in each the third and fourth to bring the game to its final 12-4 scoreline.
THE NUMBERS
Mason Spaulding scored three goals, adding three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Jacob Poole put in one goal with two ground balls.
Charlie Howenstine dished out and assist and grabbed a ground ball.
Freddy Noday and
Tyler Lieu went a combined 10-for-18 on the faceoff, each winning five. Noday nabbed four ground balls while Lieu tallied three.
Defensively, CU was led by

Leelan Durham (2 CT, 2 GB),
Gino Nave (2 CT, 2 GB), and
Nate Hubler (1 CT).
Picking up the remainder of Cap's 38 ground balls were

Kaison Durham (1 GB),
Max Schillig (1 GB),
Logan Ensign (1 GB), and
Evan Legner (1 GB).
Luc Kadlic (2-3) got the start and the decision in the cage, playing 57 minutes and making 14 saves.
Tyler Carney came in for the final few minutes.
