Men’s Lacrosse Beaten by BW

BEREA, Ohio – The Capital University men's lacrosse team (3-7, 1-3 OAC) traveled to face OAC-leading Baldwin Wallace (9-4, 5-0 OAC) on Saturday afternoon, ending in a 26-5 defeat.

The Comets struggled to get their offense going in the first half, scoring just one goal after Baldwin Wallace opened the game on an 11-0 run. Jacob Poole was the one to put in the lone first half goal, leading to a 14-1 deficit at the half. The struggles continued in the second half with CU being outscored 8-2 in the third quarter and 4-2 in the fourth to bring the final score to 25-6. Aaron Waltman and Kaison Durham scored in the third, followed by Evan Legner and Christian Akins in the fourth.

THE NUMBERS
Kaison Durham accounted for three points with one goal and two assists.

Jacob Poole put up one goal with two ground balls.

Aaron Waltman and Evan Legner both got one goal and one ground ball with Waltman adding a caused turnover as well.

Christian Akins scored the remaining goal.

Freddy Noday and Tyler Lieu went a combined 16-for-35 on the faceoff. Lieu led the way, 10-for-20 with six ground balls. Noday was 7-for-15 with five ground balls.

Logan Ensign (1 CT, 4 GB), Jay Schmoldt (1 CT), Gino Nave (3 GB), Mason Spaulding (3 GB), Dylan Christopherson (1 GB), Ian Zaletel (1 GB), Devin Flynn (1 GB), Mason Miller (1 GB), and Anthony Carusone (1 GB) led things on the defensive end.

Luc Kadlic (1-2), Tyler Carney, and Wyatt Stemler all made an appearance in the cage. Kadlic got the start and the loss, playing the first half and making six saves with three ground balls. Carney came in for the third quarter and made four saves with two ground balls. Stemler made his collegiate debut in the fourth quarter, making four saves.
