ALLEN PARK, Mich. – The Capital University bowling team sent three competitors to Allen Park, Michigan where they competed in the Intercollegiate Singles Championship Sectionals on Friday. The competition was littered with some of the top student-athletes from the entire Midwest across all divisions of collegiate bowling. Only the top 3% would go on to make the cut, qualifying for the national competition.
Competing for Cap were
Baylee Becker and
Carlos Patterson on the men's side and
Sadie Bassitt on the women's side. The oil pattern at today's competition proved to be the toughest the Comets would face all season.
Becker would place 129th in a field of 180 bowlers with a total score of 1,108 pins across six games. He bowled games of 191, 206, 179, 200, 166 and 166.
Patterson placed 171st in the same field with a total score of 983 pins. His six game scores were 117, 162, 138, 207, 193 and 166.
Bassitt placed 150th out of 172 bowlers on the women's side. Her six-game total score was 971 pins, with games of 130, 182, 155, 143, 182 and 179.
This competition officially closes the book on the inaugural season for Capital University bowling. As the team looks to continue building as they enter year two as a program, it remains a program goal to take the team to the ITC (Intercollegiate Team Championships) next season and beyond.
