MARIETTA, Ohio – The Capital University men's lacrosse team (3-5, 1-1 OAC) got themselves back in the win column on Wednesday night as they defeated Marietta (5-4, 0-2 OAC) by a score of 9-4. Faceoff man Freddy Noday put his name in the Capital record books, picking up his 230th, 231st, and 232nd career ground balls, besting the previous program of 230 set by Tyler Faig from 2017 to 2020.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The two sides traded goals in the first quarter, scoring three each to make it 3-3 after 15 minutes. Mason Spaulding scored the first two for the Comets with Anthony Carusone netting the third. Cap proceeded to take the lead in the second quarter with Spaulding putting in the lone goal of the period and completing his hat trick with 3:06 left in the first half, giving the Purple and White a 4-3 lead heading into the halftime break.

CU would soar ahead in the third quarter, outpacing the Pioneers 4-1 in the period to take an 8-4 lead. Jacob Poole and Colton Woods would split the scores evenly at two apiece, with Carusone picking up an assist. Once again Capital would shutout Marietta in the fourth quarter while also only scoring once on the offensive end. And once again it was Spaulding with the lone goal of the period, putting the game to bed at 9-4 in favor of the Purple and White.
