Mathews’ All-OAC Finish Leads Track and Field at OAC Indoor Championships

ADA, Ohio – The Capital University track and field program concluded competition at the 2025 OAC Indoor Championships on Saturday evening, highlighting their performance with a runner-up finish in the triple jump from Justin Mathews. Mathews would earn All-OAC honors for his efforts. 

As a team, the Capital men placed ninth, while the women placed tenth. Mount Union won both the men's and women's titles. 

DAY TWO RECAP
MEN
Triple Jump: Justin Mathews jumped his way to a runner-up finish in the triple jump, earning All-OAC honors. His mark of 14.03 meters solidified his own standing as the fourth longest triple jump in school history and was his first jump over 14 meters. Mathews' All-OAC honor in the triple jump marks the first such honor for a Capital student-athlete since Logan Allison in 2018. 

200-Meter Dash: Cheik Souare finished in fifth place thanks to a time of 22.34 seconds. 

60-Meter Dash Finals: Souare scored again for Capital after placing seventh in a time of 7.07 seconds, while Dom Glenn was unfortunately disqualified from his fourth place finish due to running out of his lane. 

One Mile Run: Mikey Arnone placed 14th in a time of 4:33.54. 

1,000-Meter Run: Kolin Brake placed 22nd in a time of 2:43.30. 

Shot Put: Nolan Piper placed 13th with his best throw marking 13.74 meters. Bo Baker was 19th with his best throw registering 13.10 meters. 

4x400-Meter Relay: The Capital 4x400-meter relay team placed seventh overall in the event, earning two points for the team. 

WOMEN
200-Meter Dash: Jaleea Harvey finished in a time of 27.78 seconds which was good enough for a 24th place finish. The time was also her first under 28 seconds. 

3,000-Meter Run: Olivia Ellis raced her way to 20th place in a time of 11:28.87 – a new personal best. 

Shot Put: DeiVon McCullough placed 25th with her best mark registering 10.68 meters. Mia Sanchez was 30th with a distance of 9.62 meters. 

DAY ONE RECAP
MEN
60-Meter Dash Prelims: Dom Glenn and Cheik Souare both qualified for the finals in the 60-meter dash, placing seventh and eighth respectively. Glenn held the slight edge in time, clocking 7.011 seconds to Souare's 7.015 seconds. 

5,000-Meter Run: Zach Glotzbecker placed 17th in 16:30.50. 

Distance Medley Relay: Capital earned their first points of the meet in the DMR, placing fifth in a time of 10:40.80. The group of Mikey Arnone, Dom Glenn, Aiden Mahony and Kolin Brake placed fifth in the event with a time that marks the second fastest time in program history, just missing the school record by half a second. 

Long Jump: Justin Mathews placed 13th with his furthest leap registering 6.26 meters. 

Weight Throw: Nolan Piper placed 11th overall with his furthest throw marking 15.63 meters. 

WOMEN
60-Meter Dash Prelims: Jaleea Harvey placed 20th overall in the 60-meter dash prelims with a new personal best time of 8.24 seconds. The time also bumped her up to eighth on the program top-10 list. 

Distance Medley Relay: The Capital women earned their first point of the meet, finishing in eighth place in the DMR. Elizabeth Mak, Jaleea Harvey, Catherine Schaub and Olivia Ellis turned in a time of 14:07.53 to earn the team point. 

Weight Throw: Mia Sanchez finished 24th overall with a new personal best toss of 13.12 meters, while DeiVon McCullough marked 11.60 meters on her best attempt. 

Pole Vault: Alex Wilkinson cleared the bar at 2.94 meters to finish in a tie for 13th place. 

UP NEXT
Capital will now look to send a handful of student-athletes to a last chance meet next weekend looking to trim times down break into the National qualifying times. More information on where the Comets will be heading will be posted to the Track and Field schedule page once available.
